Grade 6: Micro:Bit Home Automation Kit
Sharpen your problem-solving skills and build a fully-automated home
Dive into the practicals of programming with the Home Automation Kit. With this course, learners have all the tools they need to build a fully-automated, remote-controlled tiny home with exciting features like a fully operational front and garage door and an intruder detection security system.
Please note: This product is on back order. ETA: 3 weeks
The Grade 6 course introduces learners to the practical world of home automation. It uses fun, hands-on exercises to teach learners the significance of simulation, sensors, automation and processing real-world data. After revisiting the basic concepts of coding, learners first explore the use and importance of 3D modelling software tools. Next, learners delve into the inner workings of the breakout board and the Micro:bit, the two components at the heart of the tiny home.
During the course, learners will recap several essential concepts, including servo motors, music and sound, infrared sensors and circuit building. Learners will build their own tiny home frame from scratch, bringing a very hands-on experience to this course that will challenge their fine motor skills in a fun way. This automated home will have a remote-controlled front door, LCD screen and garage door that can open and close. It will also have its own security system that uses a buzzer and LEDs to alert people of lurking intruders — all built and programmed by the learner!
This kit allows learners to grow and refine their cognitive, problem-solving and fine motor skills.
